Neden is an independent, open-source project. The website and the desktop player handle different kinds of information.

This website

There are no accounts, advertising trackers, or analytics scripts on this site. Cloudflare hosts the website and processes network information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect it. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Download and source links take you to GitHub, which has its own privacy policy.

The desktop player

Playback history, settings, and saved flashcards are stored on your computer. API credentials are stored through the operating system’s credential service. You can clear playback history in the app’s settings.

AI features

When you ask for a definition, explanation, or follow-up, Neden sends the relevant text and subtitle context to the provider you configure. That provider’s data handling, retention, and billing rules apply. Video playback itself does not require an AI request.

Questions and source

You can inspect the implementation or report a concern in the Neden repository. Please keep API keys, private filenames, and other personal information out of public reports.
